Recognition for Professional Property Managers

New post-nominal programme launch

New Property Manager Qualification Launched:

ARPM™ (Accredited Residential Property Manager)

The Property Managers Institute of New Zealand (PROMINZ) was founded on a commitment to raise standards in the industry, says President David Pearse.

“For the past year or so, we have been pulling together the framework for a new qualification which we expect will help our consumers - owners & tenants - to easily identify property managers who care about best practice.

“Being an Accredited Residential Property Manager (ARPM™) signals the holder is competant, experienced, and is committed to maintaining high ethical and professional standards.  On-going learning is a requirement too, so it sets a deliberately high bar.”

Mr Pearse says the new qualification will allow successful residential property managers to add the post-nominals ARPM™ after their name in communications, showing their ongoing pursuit of higher standards in the industry.

The main criteria for the qualification include:

  • At least two years' full-time work experience (post qualification) in a property field (and provide referees).
  • Meet the criteria for entry to PROMINZ and be a current affiliate of the Property Institute of New Zealand (PINZ).
  • Have achieved 20 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and maintain that level of activity for each year ARPM is retained.
  • Hold Level 4 NZ Certificate of Residential Property Management (or equivalent); or
  • Demonstrate their industry knowledge and experience in a detailed interview and questionnaire.
  • Have recently completed the PROMINZ Ethics Module.

“A number of members have indicated to me they are ready to take this step, I will be. Its time has come, and the industry is in a strong position to get its ducks in a row before the regulators do it for us,” Mr Pearse says.

Professionals keen to start this journey are encouraged to join us at our upcoming virtual conference on November 5 & 6 to find out more.

Your professional success will also be accompanied by a framed certificate which includes the respected Property Institute crest.
