Continued uncertainty and disruption likely

Well, here we are again.
And without wanting to sound too pessimistic it seems inevitable that we should expect continued disruption and uncertainty for some time yet.
PROMINZ sends its warmest thoughts to those colleagues in Auckland who have endured the worst of the lockdowns that continue to slice through our business bottom lines, leading to increased frustration and desperation.
We certainly are all hoping for relief in the near term, and encourage all members to get vaccinated when they can, as this now seems like the most likely path back to some semblance of normality.
Any member that needs someone to talk to is urged to consider taking up another free service being rolled out to PINZ Communities like ours - offering support in these uncertain times.
Meanwhile, the Property Managers Institute of New Zealand has been lucky enough to secure a webinar from Kristine King Director of Duncan Law on September 28, as she covers some very relevant topics for Property Managers in this current climate.
Kristine is a specialist in property, commercial, and trust law, and has a particular interest in working with property developers and property traders.
Kristine was also part of the Law Reform Committee of the New Zealand Law Society that made submissions on behalf of the profession in respect of the RTAA.

THIS WEBINAR IS FREE & EXCLUSIVE TO PROMINZ MEMBERS

Topics that will be covered in this live webinar:

  • Recap of permitted activities for property management at levels 4, 3, 2 and 1
  • Current issues for landlord and tenants
  • Operation of the tenancy tribunal during Covid
  • Comparison of emergency law changes/ response in 2020 v 2021
More webinars in the pipeline

There is also another FREE webinar on Wednesday (22 September) which is a walk through of ADLS Lease Clause 27.5, which allows for an abatement of rent and outgoings in the event of an emergency if the tenant is unable to fully conduct business from the premises they occupy.
While this isn't strictly for Residential Property Managers some of the content may be of interest to PROMINZ members with a mixed portfolio.
Gregory Allen and Will Barnes from Simpson Grierson explore this clause in the new ‘Covid context’ with useful advice and suggestions on how to avoid unnecessary complications.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the Property Institute of New Zealand's National Support Team, PROMINZ is organising a number of other webinars in the coming weeks that will be of real interest to Residential Property Managers and we'll be uploading those to our 'EVENTS' page as soon as they are locked and loaded.

Property Management Regulation Update
As members will know PROMINZ maintains a strong working relationship with the Government as it advances its agenda to regulate property management.
PINZ Chief Executive Officer Viv Gurrey has another meeting scheduled with Associate Housing Minister Poto Williams on 11 November to get an update on timelines and intentions.  We hope to be able to report back to you, our members, after that.
