Result of Special Resolution on Constitution

An overwhelming majority of voting members have supported the proposal by the Property Institute of New Zealand to adopt a constitutional framework.

Some 99.4% of those who voted supported the proposal.

The Property Institute of New Zealand Incorporated Constitution is now formally adopted and will come into effect on 1 January, 2024.

Next Steps

This decision allows the Institute to maintain its legal status as an Incorporated Society. It also paves the way for long overdue modernisation of the organisation.

Thank-you to all those who participated in the online vote.

Now that the Special Resolution has been adopted, a process begins to develop the policies that will deliver on the principles outlined in our new founding document. These will be developed in collaboration with our professional communities, our branches, and expert member input.

Members should expect to see policy updates over the coming year.

For now, the existing PINZ prescribed terms, conditions and by-laws remain in place until formally amended and communicated appropriately.

In other words, it’s business as usual.

This is an exciting opportunity for our organisation, and I again thank the members who are joining us on our journey to become the home of property professionals.
