NZIV President's Christmas Message
Thanks for all the support in 2022

Experienced Valuers know that when times get tough, we get even busier. I know a lot of you are counting down the days to a well-earned break, and many I've spoken to in recent weeks have explained the toll the workload is having on their well-being.

This has been a very real issue for many members this year, compounded by economic, social and health factors.

It's pleasing that NZIV (in conjunction with PINZ) introduced an employee assistance programme, that is a free member benefit. If you 're in need of someone to talk to, do take up this offer.

Your Council has been working hard to improve education and provide additional support to members this year, and it has been great to catch up with more of you in face-to-face settings as the year has progressed. 2023 promises to be another fecund year in which NZIV Council is maintaining an ambitious programme.

One of the highlights will inevitably be the IVSC/WAVO Global Valuation Conference in Christchurch in June. This is an incredible opportunity to connect with Valuers around the globe and share our experiences.

Many of you will have also seen the Exposure Draft following our review of the Code of Ethics. This is a very important body of work and I encourage you to take a look at it and give us your feedback – see below.

Finally, I want to say a sincere thank you to the NZIV Councillors, the National Support Team and the many volunteers who are the backbone of our organisation. Your support has been amazing and we couldn't survive without you. In the New Year, I will be on leave for a couple of months with Vice Presidents Matt Snelgrove and Andrew White taking on the workload. Please continue to communicate any issues or ideas through to the email president@nziv.org.nz

I do hope you can take some time over the holidays to relax and enjoy friends and whanau.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Heather Beard
President
New Zealand Institute of Valuers.
