Marking the first day of Spring, Property Institute New Zealand (PINZ) members congregated on the Manawatū Campus to attend the annual Massey PINZ Spring Seminar. The Seminar is a staple event in the PINZ event calendar, offering professional development for members and an opportunity to bring members and students together.
Attendance and PINZ membership for property students is complimentary, and a number of them joined the event.
This year's programme specialised in rural property, and included an update on the university's property studies offerings from Professor Graham Squires of the School of Economics and Finance, and a session on the impact of sustainable agricultural practices on farmland value by Senior Lecturer Iona McCarthy, also of the School of Economics and Finance.
Joining them in the programme was Westpac Senior Agri Economist Nathan Penny, Registered Valuer Jay Sorenson speaking on rural valuation standards, GHD Technical Director Dr Murray Wallis covering contaminated land, and AgFirst Consultant Erica van Reenen talking on Environmental Management and He Waka Eke Noa.
Attention is now turned to next year's seminar, where it is hoped that the programme will include urban property topics and span two days, offering more professional development and networking opportunities.
