2021 Annual Conference: A month to go

There's now just a little over a month to go before the big Property Institute event of the year - our 2021 Annual Conference and Awards.
There has been a steady uptake of registrations over the past few weeks, and there's still time for you to join us at the event which promises a programme full of learning, networking, entertainment and more.
It's our chance to honour the industry's ‘best of the best’ at our Annual Property Awards and recognise those members who've devoted their time and energy to help their colleagues and PINZ remain strong and relevant and be stronger together.
For those of you who missed it, Institute President Luke van den Broek sent out an email to members earlier this week with a special personal invite - that message is repeated in full below.
We do hope you'll join us.  Check out the programme and register online by clicking the button below.

A special invite from the President

Thank you for your support of the Property Institute over the past couple of years.

We have come through the trials of 2020 in great shape and we’ve been doing some serious thinking about charting the course ahead.

I’d like to share our thoughts with you at the Property Institute’s National Conference in Auckland from July 14-16.

I do hope you will register and join us

Quite apart from being a great opportunity to reconnect and share our experiences, there’s a full programme of inspiring and informative speakers whose perspective I personally look forward to learning from.

It’s also our chance to recognise those who have sacrificed their time and dedication to raising our industry standards and helping make PINZ more relevant and informed.

Through their efforts, we take pride in our member status which is recognised and held in high regard throughout New Zealand, and indeed the world.

It’s that legacy which drives your Board today, and is the genesis of our member-focused programme of continuous improvement.

Please come and hear what we have to say (see the programme and register HERE).

Of course, you’re always welcome to give me your views at any time: President@property.org.nz

I do hope you can join us this year, it might be just the tonic you need.

Plant & Machinery Valuers at Conference
With conference about a month away, it's timely to remind Plant & Machinery Valuer members that this year there's a special workstream which has been developed by the Plant & Machinery Valuers Institute Council to meet the needs of professionals working in this sector.

Along with some exceptional plenary session speakers there's a good amount of specific education, including plant specific site visit soon to be announced and currently being finalised by PINZ and your PMVI team.

Other sessions include:

From Deckhand to Helm - Training Plant and Machinery Valuers for the Future: Join this panel discussion focusing on building a thriving plant and machinery valuation profession including the need for registered plant and machinery valuers to take on trainees, and to explore recruitment models from respected valuation companies.

From the Crow’s Nest – Mobile Plant and Equipment Market: New Purchase Price Allocation Tax Rules: First up, Shaun Morresey will provide a birds-eye view of the mobile plant and equipment market, including the trade for new and used mobile assets (20 mins). Following this, Graham Barton will cast an eagle eye over the new tax legislation regarding purchase price allocations for property assets that comes into force on 1st July 2021. These new rules have significant tax implications for both the selling and buying sides of the equation, when businesses, or assets change hands. (25mins)

- Shaun Morresey: Shaun is the Digital Commercial Manager for TWR Media that operates information and trading platforms for commercial vehicles, machinery and boats.

- Graham Barton: Graham Barton is a Director with JLL in Auckland with 30 years’ experience in valuations, specialising in cost allocations for tax and accounting purposes.  He spent 14 years at EY working with their Property and Transaction Advisory Services Groups and their Tax Partners.

The Upsurge of Online Auctions – Impact on the Value of Plant and Machinery Assets: Join Turners (NZ) to gain an understanding of the impact of Covid-19 on asset auctions; online auctions vs on-site auctions, and the impacts on value.
