Property Institute & NZIV approach to Capital Gains tax

The Property Institute of New Zealand and the New Zealand Institute of Valuers is taking a very cautious and balanced approach to the tax working group proposals for a comprehensive Capital Gains Tax.

We are very deliberately focused on the outcomes of the discussion and debate, rather than taking an early position that may not be in the best interests of our broader membership/s or bear any resemblance to what regulation eventually emerges.

As a result, at this stage we are opting to monitor developments and will respond accordingly when the dust has settled, and the final shape of any tax proposal is known.
