  • Viv Gurrey

    Viv Gurrey is the Chief Executive Officer of The Property Institute of New Zealand. A leadership and governance professional who brings a unique set of skills and extensive commercial experience to the role.

    Originally from the UK, Viv has worked extensively in Asia, Europe and the Pacific in leadership roles across corporate and membership services organizations. With a background in professional services, sales and marketing, Viv has spent many years leading operations and strategy as a Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director in the corporate sector.

  • Jhanica Ye

    Jhanica began her career with the Asset Advisory team at Beca in Summer 2019 as an intern valuer, which led to a full time Graduate Valuer role upon completing a Bachelor of Property/ Bachelor of Commerce conjoint degree at the University of Auckland in September 2020. Since, she has had the opportunity to work on some awesome projects varying from breweries to airports around New Zealand, Australia and Fiji focusing on the valuation of complex infrastructure, plant and machinery assets.

    Jhanica currently sits on the PMVI Council as a Future Leader.

  • Celeste Patutama

    Celeste Patutama is a Bachelor of Property graduate from the University of Auckland. She started her career at the Ministry of Education supporting the delivery of ministry funded school construction projects before delving into consultancy. Over the past three years she has been involved in several major transport projects whilst specialising in Māori landowner engagement in the last year. She has recently started a new role as a Property Consultant at Align continuing work in acquisitions under the Public Works Act 1981. This year Celeste is sitting on the IPAC/COMPRO Council as a Future Leader.

  • Matt Webster

    Matt Webster is the Manager of Assemble's Commercial Real Estate business. With over 15 years of professional sales experience, 6 of those specifically in property recruitment in the NZ market, Matt combines a highly tuned relationship building skillset, excellent technical understanding and deep networks across the commercial property sector to deliver outstanding recruitment solutions for his client base. As part of the wider strategy of the Commercial Real Estate business, Matt is championing new initiatives for the Assemble business to serve the property industry by providing guidance and advice for future professionals through industry body partnerships.

  • Avella Taylor

    • Regional Director – Government & Advisory

    Avella is the Regional Director for Opteon New Zealand’s Government Services business and is a Registered Valuer. Avella’s role includes the management of several contracts for Territorial Authorities (TA) across the North Island. Opteon’s primary role in this space is as the Valuation Service Provider (VSP) which provides rating valuations to TA’s to assist with their future planning schemes, forecasting, budgets and other community initiatives.

    Some of Avella’s previous experience includes residential valuations in both Perth, Western Australia and Auckland, New Zealand. More recently, Avella has been involved in project management and governance, innovation projects, employee engagement projects, and procurement where she has successfully written and won government tenders.

    George has a wide range of experience and expertise with Residential property valuation spanning over 10 years, focusing on the Auckland Isthmus area. Specilisation includes high value properties, construction valuations, small scale developments, compensation works and litigation work relating to market value of residential property. George is currently the Residential Northern Regional Manager with CBRE.

  • Kelly Beckett

    Kelly joined CBRE in April 2015. She was previously with Seagar and Partners after graduating from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Property degree. Kelly was registered as a valuer in May 2007. Kelly is an Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers and a Senior Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand.

    Based in Auckland, Kelly Beckett focuses on the valuation of CBD and fringe CBD commercial assets and the valuation of residential development projects and development land.

    Neill Sullivan is the Valuer-General, located in the Wellington office of Land Information New Zealand. He has been a registered valuer since 1983 and has worked in a variety of private and government roles in New Zealand and abroad. The Valuer-General is primarily responsible for regulation of the rating valuations system, chairing the Valuers Registration Board and is also member of the NZIV Council in accordance with the Valuers Act 1948.

    PMVI Education Convener

    Andrew graduated from Lincoln University with a B.Com in Valuations and Property Management and completed a National diploma in Construction (Quantity Surveying) from Unitec. He holds the position of Principal at Aon Risk Consulting, where he performs valuations for clients in the infrastructure and industrial sectors across New Zealand, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific region.

    Prior to his role as plant and machinery valuer, Andrew worked in different roles such as property sales and facilities management. Andrew has over ten years of experience and an extensive knowledge of market valuations, insurance valuations, due diligence, and valuations for financial reporting purposes.

    He is a graduate of the PINZ Emerging Leaders Program and serves as the Education Convener for Plant and Machinery Valuers Institute(PMVI). Andrew also presents at various conferences and regularly guest lectures on Plant & Machinery Valuation at various universities across New Zealand.

    Property and Valuation Standards Board Member

    John is an Auckland based Commercial Valuer and is the Director of NH Valuers, which covers Commercial, residential and lifestyle property markets around Greater Auckland. As a past Chair and still current member of the PINZ Standards Board, John has first hand knowledge of current standards both local and International. Specialist workstreams John is involved in include Expert Witness, Arbitrations/ rent disputes and Compensation Valuations.

    Property and Valuation Standards Board Member

    Jason is a Senior Commercial and Industrial Valuer. He is a member of the Property and Valuation Standards Board and is a former NZIV Councillor, NZIV and PINZ Auckland branch chairman. He also sits on the PINZ and PCNZ Guide for the Measurement of Rentable Areas review committee.

    Jason works in the Auckland industrial and commercial market including undertaking valuations for various purposes including mortgage lending, financial reporting, rent reviews, insurance, and land value apportionments for depreciation purposes. His focus is on industrial and commercial valuations within the greater Auckland region.

  • Dr Abdul-Rasheed Amidu. MPINZ

    • Associate Professor & Graduate Advisor in the Department of Property.

    Dr Abdul-Rasheed Amidu is currently an RICS-qualified Chartered Valuation Surveyor and an Associate Professor in the Department of Property at the University of Auckland Business School. Dr Amidu is an RICS APC Assessor, a Member of Property Institute of New Zealand (MPINZ) and New Zealand Institute of Valuers, a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Journal of Property Investment and Finance (JPIF), Journal of African Real Estate and Reviewer for several property journals.

    Dr Amidu has a strong global reputation in teaching and research in the field of property valuation. His main research interest is the behavioural perspectives on valuation decision-making, with a strong focus on designing interventions to improve valuation education and practice.

  • Deborah Levy

    Deborah has held key leadership roles in the Department of Property over the past 15 years and since 2008 has been Head of the Department. Deborah is internationally recognised for her research in behavioural studies relating to property markets.
