About the Event

Hear from Dr. Olga Filippova & Dr. Michael Rehm as they cover some leading-edge topics for Valuers.

Dr Olga Filippova is a senior lecturer in the Department of Property at the University of Auckland Business School. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the department. Her research is focused on enhancing disaster resilience in the built environment. In particular, how property market participants mitigate climate change-induces and seismic risks in response to the regulatory and market pressures. During the webinar, Olga will share findings from a recently completed project on the automated valuation of office rents.

Dr Michael Rehm is a Senior Lecturer in Property at the University of Auckland Business School. His research focus has been on the development of hedonic pricing models used to isolate and better understand specific behaviour of market participants within housing and office markets. His research incorporates geographic information systems (GIS) to model and explore the often underappreciated spatial relationships prevalent in property markets including work on school zoning, proximity to cell phone towers and leaky building stigma. His latest research is on housing affordability and the impacts of inclusionary zoning on residential land development.

Topics to be covered in the first webinar of the Auckland University Series

Utilisation of Big Data. How can Valuers add value to mass appraisal systems? What soft skills might be helpful to valuers (and why) in terms of engaging a more contemporary approach to continuing professional development?

Technology is not the Answer! What is currently going on in the market?; limitations of mass appraisal systems and AVM’s; the strong unlikelihood of takeover of the profession by technology.

Registered Valuer & Property Consultant Peter Ward joins the panel for Q&A.

Members, please note, your CPD points will be automatically allocated to your CPD diary after the webinar.
