Profile:
Nicky is a property advisor and director of Nelson-based Columbus Land Consultants. She is a practitioner of the Public Works Act 1981 involved in the acquisition of land for local authority infrastructure projects in the Nelson-Tasman region. She has worked on acquisition and disposal projects for the Crown, State Owned Enterprises and Territorial Local Authorities, her expertise including compulsory acquisition processes, assessment of compensation entitlements, negotiation and preparation of land acquisition agreements, licences, leases and statutory notices under the PWA. She also undertakes legalisation (gazettal) actions, road stopping and Local Government Act roading legalisation, manages disposal processes under section 40 of the Public Works Act.
Nicky has worked with Territorial Authorities in the top of the South Island and Iwi organisations, her expertise extending to land status investigations verifying historical land boundaries and reporting in situations of unclear land ownership, access disputes, accretion and moveable water boundaries involving the challenging examination and interpretation of historic survey plans and Crown land related legislation.
Prior to founding Columbus Land Consultants, Nicky worked in Crown land property consultancy and property valuation. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Urban Valuation).
