The Valuers Registration Board (VRB) is a separate entity under the Valuers Act and is administered by the Minister of Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). The VRB is solely responsible for the registration of valuers.

The Valuers Act 1948 at section 19 sets out the eligibility criteria that the VRB is required to have regard to when considering any application for registration.

For more detailed information please refer to the Registration Requirements Manual.

Upon gaining registration it is mandatory for all registered valuers to be a member of The Institute, meaning NZIV. The below video will help you understand Valuation Governance in New Zealand. (correct as of July 2022)
