What is CPD?

Continuing Professional Development or CPD refers to the process of tracking and documenting the skills, knowledge and experience that you gain both formally and informally as you work, beyond any initial training. It's a record of what you experience, learn and then apply.

Why undertake CPD?

An initial qualification cannot prepare the professionals of today with all the skills and knowledge they will need throughout their working lives. Property professionals need to keep abreast of changes in many areas including technology, legislation, methodology, business management, marketing and quality assurance. Ongoing learning provides the mechanism through which professionals can meet the challenges of today’s business environment.

Who must undertake CPD?

Members that are required to complete CPD are: Graduate members, Full members, Senior members, Fellow and non-retired Life members.

Although Affiliate members are not required to complete CPD it is encouraged as it is the pathway to membership.

What are the requirements?

CPD compliance is 20 points per calendar year, including completing Professional Ethics and Standards once every two years.  If your CPD points exceed 20 points for the year, you can carry a max of 5 points to the next immediate year only.

How do I earn Verified CPD points?

You can achieve verified CPD points by attending our events, viewing webinar recordings, completing online modules. Non-verified CPD points can be earned through a variety of methods please refer to the CPD policy.

Login to your member portal, go to ‘My CPD’ then click ‘create new CPD diary entry.’ To view past years entries, click on ‘view my past years CPD diaries.’

To add a non verified entry, click ‘create new CPD diary entry’ then enter in the record. The record will add to the year that you have allocated the CPD diary to. Please ensure you enter the dates of CPD diary entries correctly otherwise the record will not apply correctly.

The Property Institute adds CPD for all events attended through the Institute as well as live webinars.

Please ensure that your non-verified CPD records complies with the CPD Policy.
